May is out

Lots of May/ Hawthorne blossom in the car park at Rheged.
The sun is telling us that May is out too but it had disappeared when we arrived in Cumbria for coffee and a blipmeet with PaulaJ and  some time blipper Gordon (HighPike) who is an ex colleague of mine. We had a lovely chat and when we came out the sun was shining. See Paula’s blip here

We went into Penrith, somewhere we’ve never visited, a very pleasant little town and we looked around the castle which was nce owned by Richard III.  Had a cuppa and a piece of cake, first since February, well I am in holiday but sorry to say I found it a bit sweet.

We are now in the lovely Eden Valley for the night at the Black Swan pictured in the blip. After checking in we had a walk around the village of Culgaith, some very nice cottages in red stone and some bigger properties which seem to be linked to horse racing.
Now we are in the beer garden behind the pub enjoying the early evening sun before dinner.
Onwards over the border tomorrow.
