one day in France

By Frenchtoast

Here we are again, another VE Day.

It was lovely weather for today’s Liberation day event, and I had half an hour under a shady tree watching the goings on. In the top photo is the new monument to the American airmen who got shot down in 1943.
You might remember the niece of one of them visited our village last year, well the village came good on the promise of a monument which is filled with artefacts from the crashed plane including the escape door which was kicked out by the pilot as it was stuck.
It’s just such a shame that there are spelling mistakes engraved into the granite, including one of the names of the dead.
