Wannabe

My red kite wanted to be an osprey. He had the moves.

The kites come in for the dead fish on the surface of the water but occasionally they hit on a live fish near the surface. He was being harassed  by three determined crows and six very determined herons who all took it upon themselves to try and oust the fish thief. They were good at it!

The osprey, which I'd come to see was in a total dilemma as the heron family  were incredibly intimidating  and when he managed to fly in to get a perch on the willow tree they were giving him fly-bys like you've never seen. Unsuccessful in ousting the osprey they were so very clever. They flew in and staggered themselves in branches in the tree on his flight path into the fish pond. A heron staircase no less. T7 waited and waited, weighing up his chances and eventually our hero dived at speed and did catch a medium sized trout but never came back.

One of the most amazing things I saw was a crow fishing. He was standing on the pond edge copying heron tactics and brought out his breakfast. The herons had no flies on them though and came in with a vengeance at one point.

No time for a nap before having to drive home but I am back even with the Friday night usual chaos.
