An enjoyable day

This is a late posting.

After a leisurely breakfast we drove out to the Riverstone complex for coffee and succumbed to the lure of a date and orange scone with jam and cream.  MrM and I shared, our friend A had a whole one to herself.  The scone was delicious.  After our morning tea we went outside and browsed the interesting items scattered around the grounds before going inside a store selling a large and very good selection of artificial flowers along with a range of knickknacks for the home, which we managed to resist.  There was also a much bigger store to browse, where we  did make a small purchase - a cake tin.  Our friend made purchases in both stores.

We also walked to the castle in the lake and then admired the many vegetable beds that supply the kitchen.

We had planned to drive to Waimate, but changed our minds and returned home to relax for a couple of hours before going for a pre-dinner drink at the Victoria Lounge Bar.  A and I enjoyed a non-alcoholic G&T and MrM a beer.  After chatting to J at the Victoria, we drove to Beach Road to view the Aurora before our dinner engagement at 7pm.  We were astounded at the number of cars that had also driven out to see it.  The volume of traffic was huge and a bit scary.  We had a delicious dinner at the Bangkok Recipe Restaurant then set off to view the Aurora again, this time up on the hill.  We went to one location but it wasn’t very good so we moved to another that was much better.  It was such a special experience.

I haven’t been on blip so am behind with comments.
