This is the day

Retail Therapy

The sunny spells of the past few days have now given way to rain, which looks set to last until we leave for home on Saturday.

We’ve now become so relaxed that we’re getting quite lazy. We wandered up to Chapel Stile for lunch at Brambles café, above the Co-op, where we both partook of one of Samantha’s delicious quiche and salad meals. We've been going there for so long that Samantha puts our meals down in front of us with our particular preferences catered for, without us having said a word! I don't know how she remembers from one year to the next, but she does. (No coleslaw for Smithers, if you must know.)

Smithers bought some comestibles in the Co-op when we left, and I did some ironing on our return, but apart from that we’ve done very little. There will be plenty to do when we get home, and the pace of life will speed up considerably, so it won’t do us any harm to have slowed down for a bit.

The leisure centre at our timeshare is currently undergoing a swimming pool refurbishment and having a new roof installed, so there is a lot of building work activity on site. It has had to be scheduled to take place when it will cause the least disturbance to the bats which like to nest in the roof area! We took a stroll to have a look at the latest progress and I snapped this shot of a display stand with some lovely Herdy goods and other items for sale in the part of the leisure centre that is still accessible.

The pool was looking in a sorry state but it is due to re-open this coming weekend, so the next few days will see it being cleaned, re-filled and heated. When the roof is finished it will be covered with solar panels which will presumably help with the cost of heating the pool.

[Extra: I've just added a photo of a display in the leisure centre giving details of the two bat roosts on site.].
