We headed to 40 Dean Street, where we met M&R for a pre-show dinner. The food was wonderful. The mushroom gnocchi was delicious, and everybody else's meal looked incredible. PY noted that pistachio tiramisu was on the menu but said he'd save it for another time.

M&R  gave PY his birthday present at the end of the meal: a lovely frame of Bananarama song titles. He seemed pretty taken with it. The waitress saw him opening the gift and brought a cake with a candle. It turned out to be the pistachio tiramisu. We all had a scoop.

Then, it was on to The Crazy Coqs for the Oscar-themed musical evening.

Quite a mix of the old and new Oscar-winning and nominated songs across the show, plus a few curve balls. This year, two songs from the Barbie film were nominated for best original song, and both were performed. The version of "What Was I Made For? was performed by Wendy Carr, Carolyn Maitland and Tasha Shanade, while Jack Reitman and Lewis Asquith did a version of "I'm Just Ken" (pictured). There are so many other good songs from the musicals, but I don't know how the choices are made.
