a lifetime burning

Iris

It's been a bit too blustery here to make insect photography much fun. There were certainly no damselflies in evidence around the pond, and precious few other flying insects.  I did spot one or two little beetles but it started to rain just as I had set up and the beetles went off in search of shelter.

So instead, here is a picture of one of the irises from around the pond.  We've never had quite so many irises in bloom at one go, so there must be something about the conditions this year that they like - though I couldn't tell you what it is.
