I Witness

Final day …

... of this amazing vacation.

Our final full day here was probably our favorite!  We saved the best for last!  And we had the perfect weather for it, too!

A full day was planned so we left our hotel early in order to travel to Wallington … another great National Trust property.  Once we arrived and got a map of the place we set out for the walled garden on the property.  The property is rather large and this took us about 20 minutes.  But it was well worth the lovely walk as the gardens were beautiful.  Lots of flowers, bees, butterflies, etc.  I was happy to see several cabbage whites as they have a special place in my heart.  The beautiful tulips pictured are known as fringed tulips … a new variety for us.

We could have spent the entire day here but we knew we needed to be back in Newcastle by 4:00 to meet Dolly for supper.  She had contacted me after our blipmeet on Sunday about getting together one more time before we left for home.  She was able to meet us at our hotel this evening where we visited for a bit before heading to the Blackbird Inn for supper.  It was delicious and we had a great time together.  Blippers really are the best of people!

A trip to England wouldn’t be complete without getting pictures of the many sheep and lambs that abound this time of year.  So we stopped along the way back to our hotel from Wallington to get some pictures.

I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect place to vacation in order to celebrate our special wedding anniversary (5/5/24).  The people here are amazing … so kind and generous … with many asking us if we were on holiday.  Not sure how they knew we were on holiday!  Could it be our American accents?  Thank you to all that made this already special vacation that much more special.

Home tomorrow …
