That Will Do!

Stained Glass

Not just any stained glass but that in the private chapel at Dawyck Garden.

Noticing that the door was open and the interior was being painted, we assumed the Blipper's Cloak Of Confidence (aka a brass neck) and asked the painter if we could go inside to see the stained glass windows. We pointed out that we knew these are not seen at their best from outside unless the sunshine is in exactly the right alignment but would love to see them. And, do you know what, he agreed!

All the fittings were shrouded in protective sheets so, by simply avoiding the scaffolding, I was able to take several shots of the windows. Not wishing to overstay our welcome and, thanking him for such generosity, we beetled back to the public side of the railings and continued our visit to the garden. Unfortunately I did not have the opportunity to examine the detail and inscription, nor have yet researched the designer but will work on that anon.

I have many other photos to check, including the azaleas and Himalayan blue poppies but we have had a full day with our friend C and another tomorrow so they will have to wait.
