T'Owd Man Border Morris

Another fabulous day at Holmfirth Festival of Folk, but first one of MrM's cooked breakfasts to keep us going.

Andrea and I met up with Liz H, and we mostly wandered around the town watching Morris dancing at the various dance spots, and MrM joined us occasionally throughout the morning. Andrea also took the opportunity to 'do' the local charity shops, and purchased a bargain or two. We ended up at Cooper's Yard watching yet more dancing. Mid-afternoon it was, sadly, time to say farewell to Andrea who left to drive home to Northumberland. MrM and I stayed to watch the band.

Just after that the only 'downer' of the weekend - someone stole MrM's wallet, but they didn't get away with it thank goodness. I happened to glance down and saw it on the ground. Before I could say anything or pick it up, a woman ran between us, grabbed the wallet, and ran into the bar. I alerted MrM who gave chase, ran straight through the middle of the band, and grabbed the wallet from her hands. He shouted at her at the top of his voice, but she simply behaved as though nothing had happened. MrM was keen to leave and forget about the incident, but I reported to the festival team, and later spent a jolly half hour looking through the pub's CCTV footage with the owner, who was keen to get a clear image of the thief to circulate to local business owners. We could  see the whole incident but she was wearing a hat, and there were no clear images from any of the cameras. It all happened in seconds, and she was far too slick to be an opportunist - it seems that I was the only person to see her do it!. Take good care of your belongs, people, especially in crowded places.

Anyway, enough of that! We thoroughly enjoyed the evening concert at the Civic Hall - Dead Belgian, followed by the Yorkshire Gypsy Swing Collective. Tired as we walked home up the hill!
