Bowood Woodland Gardens (Thursday 16th May 2024)

I miss my visits to Bowood House and Grounds, having sent my season ticket back in protest over their discriminatory behaviour against those with annual subscriptions. That was in 2017 and they haven't revised their system. I have since then had a few walks on public footpaths that cross their Estate and go alongside a part of their lake.

This year my membership of the RHS entitles me to visit a separate Bowood area formerly known as Rhododendron Walks that opens for a few weeks each year. Now known as Bowood Woodland Gardens this year it is open until June 2nd and I made my first visit of many (I hope) there, which I can now do without breaking my principles.

I made for the Jubilee Gardens and made a tour of it, as well as reading for half an hour on an ornate bench seat. The bluebells are past their best but I still liked this artistically decaying bunch that I found close behind the bench. Thanks to Miranda1008 for hosting WildFlower Week.
