Fox, Piglet, and Rosettes

…on the podium at Geibel’s Forge, Eberstadt, City of Darmstadt, Hesse, Germany. In the background is a model of the town centre.

This afternoon the volunteers team “Fountains and Wells” celebrated their 25th anniversary here.

The fox has a complicated history as was presented in a talk: originally a limestone fox was part of the Fairytale Fountain, and when that one was badly damaged it was replaced by this metal copy. Not long afterwards the new fox was stolen, and had to become replaced by a new one, which was more securely installed. Later on, the stolen one was retrieved in the woods by children. It has spent the last 15 odd years in the chairman’s office, and now a new and worthy place is being looked for.

The piglet is representing the town’s name (Eberstadt = Boar town).

The rosettes are spare ones, 3D-printed, and to be used as a rim at another fountain.
