On top of Rosskerrig

What a day -even we have been basking in Mediterranean warmth and sunshine. After a leisurely breakast al fresco, and feeling we ought to make the most of it, we decided to head up the mountain - a fairly strenuous four hour hike. We haven't done a big walk for some time as Himself's leg has been playing up, and it was noticeable - quite a lot of gasping. And I probably shouldn't have had two helpings of cheesecake last night. The way up the mountain is not straight forward either, there are many dips and peaks but we took our time an admired the flowers - masses of bog cotton and bog asphodels. We climbed to the top and ate sesame sticks, dried fruit and apples. This is looking east from the top of Mt Rosskerrig, Bantry Bay in the distance. May be worth biggifying to see the spattering of farms and the occasional modern monstrosity.

Back home, the cossie was donned and I headed off to the beach. At first I was put off as there were jellyfish but they seemed to be confined to one area, so throwing caution to the wind, I swam. it was wonderful! This little beach is just about perfect - crystal clear water, a smattering of sand, gently shelving and totally private - I think TJ is the only one who may know about it and I'm not telling anyone else.

Edit: I have only just heard the unbelivably sad news about the sudden death of Chaiselongue. Kendall has opened a forum page.
