Red Spotted Moth

The Red Spotted Moth, a UK resident moth. The moth had, I presumed, just crawled out of the white opaque sack chrysalis, just off to the left, (you can see the bottom half). The moth appears to be resting and possible waiting for the new wings to dry enough before flight can begin.

The last time I saw this event unfolding was about 30-35 years ago in the New Forest. I still have the photographs!

This blip was taken about 0745 this morning, hence, being an unusual event to see, became my blip choice of the day.
