litchfield national park

On the other side of Stuart Highway running south from Darwin, Kakadu is the well known and must see national park in the top end.
Litchfield may be the less known cousin perhaps maybe but there is so much to see.
Thermal pools, magnetic termite mounds, deep plunging waterfalls and cool, pool, plunge pools and the relics of an early 1900s tin mine and house out in the middle of nowhere... and a boy and his pet pig collecting $7.00 per car to cross a tiny pocket of privately owned land to another cascading waterfall.
Monsoon rainforest, sulphur crested cockies in the trees, myriads of bats hanging high in the trees and thankfully no salties creating health and safety issues at the swimming holes.

This is Wangi Falls, a very special pace to the Aboriginal custodians of this land and lucky we are to have the opportunity to swim, walk and enjoy some beautiful country.

Commenting and responding may be limited over the next week or so. Look forward to catching up eventually :)
