After Glow

Yesterday's sunset was nothing much but today we had a lot of clouds hanging about, which always helps. It finished up being a good sunset but I'd shot lots like it before.

I had been wandering about West Blackheath trying to find something by way of a foreground to stick in front of the colour. West Blackheath falls away from the ridge a little toward the Kanimbla. People who live over here get a spectacular view of whatever the dying sun has on offer. Anyway, the sun was long gone and the show appeared to be over. I was heading back to the car when these people sitting on their front verandah urged me to wait. "Things'll light up again in a minute", they said.

Sure enough, after a few minutes, the afterglow colour suddenly erupted but was gone again after about 20 seconds.. West Blackheath also specialises in the ugliest of telegraph poles, only a handful of which know anything about the perpendicular. Here is the afterglow with a suitably awful pole and wires to set it off. I sometimes fool around with colour and filters a little. Honest. No colour enhancing or altering routines were engaged during post processing.
