Mashu ko

Went on holiday to Hokkaido with pickle, catching up now!

Lake Mashu is the second clearest on earth. Visibility underwater is around 40m. It is surrounded by cliffs and very hard to get to which probably partly explains its purity. It is usually misty, so the native people of Hokkaido (the Ainu) call it the lake of the devil. We were lucky with the weather and enjoyed looking at the blue mirror.
