Kealkil Stone Circle

It was a bright warm morning. I had a few calls to make in Skibbereen then we went to Bantry for animal feed. We decided to take a long road home and went out to Kealkil and then up to the stone circle in its muddy field high on the hill overlooking Bantry Bay. Access to it was much better that our last visit to it, several years ago, but I still came away with wet feet, and squally showers made photography difficult. I''m going to go back and do it again when the light's better.

We drove home through the Mealagh valley then up over the heights of Dereenacrinnig and down to Castledonovan. A favourite route which we hadnt taken for a long while. Everywhere looked green and lush, glowing.

This evening the rain is incredibly heavy, like a monsoon. We are going to stay indoors, light a fire and watch 'The Life of Pi'.
