Backout

We've left the Outback and motored into Airlie Beach, in the Whitsunday region of northern Queensland. The islands off this coast should really be called the Whitmondays, but Captain James Cook, on his first voyage of discovery in 1770, got the day wrong when he named them (though, to be fair, the International Date Line hadn't yet been drawn in). This is the view from our holiday apartment out towards the islands and the Great Barrier Reef. The Outback leg of our trip was for me, and the 10 days here are the quid pro quo exacted by Mrs D. I will be gracious and try to make the best of it.
