The Pieta

No tour journal of a trip to Italy would be complete without some reference to the fabulous art that exists at every turn. For me, nothing represents the best of Italian art like the works of Michelangelo...and from that vast collection, the Pieta stands head and shoulders above the rest. No photograph will ever do the real thing the justice it deserves..it must be seen in person to fully appreciate it.

To realize he carved this masterwork when he was only 24...you just have to appreciate the level of his genius.
