Colours

Queen Victoria, as Britannia, gazes down from her seat high above Princes Street at the deceptively quiet scene. She has seen many changes since she was put there in 1844 including the change from horse drawn trams to motor transport and the traffic jams caused by the current tram works. Now she must wonder what to make of the latest decoration of the pillars at the Royal Scottish Academy in which there are frequently exhibits promoting living Scottish artists. She would be more familiar with the art and sculptures in the National Gallery of Scotland building behind. Sometimes when there are major exhibitions the pillars are decorated so I think these coloured pillars must be symbolic of the vivid colours in the current exhibition of Peter Doig’s art. (which I've not seen)
