Hike4Henry It Ends...

Six set out on a bright Welsh day (four yesterday) to challenge mountain tops,
with some help from extra bodies to help us on the stops,
also to walk beside us and push our souls along,
and not complain if later-on we did begin to pong.

Early doors we started out to scramble up the rock,
by 6.15 we bagged the 1st an easy one Crib Goch!
Then the Snowdon peak itself but pause was not an option,
Number 2 of 17, time to keep on truckin'

Down the miners we did walk and past the halfway house,
down towards Llyn Peris blue below the quarry face,
where breakfast came from helping hands, and smiling fresh of face,
what else do you need to fuel a hike than bacon, tea and cakes.

The second leg was quite a slog with heat and contours close,
Up to Elidir Fawr was steep but up the side we rose,
then down to meet support again to water us and feed,
before we tackled Glyder Fawr and Fach and Tryfan peak.

Tryfan's Adam to Eve the leap was taken up by none,
but on the cantilever I did stand to have my picture done.
Off Tryfan we slid and slide and tightly we did cling,
And two unnamed did find a place to squat and leave offerings.

Orange almond soup did wait with bread to fuel us up,
Support had set up little camp to prep us for the yomp.
The final push seven hours or so was all that was left to pace,
up and out the Ogwen valley and up the Carnedd face.

Then night did fall our merry band and torches switched to on,
glow sticks snapped and hats and gloves as we set for night time fun.
A little off track this group did get as the weather switched it's tack,
rain and fog and wind and dark but we did not turn back.

A little navigation glitch and conditions turning hostile,
a decision made to wait it out in shelter for a while.
Then gird our loins for the final push three to four hours left,
some final peaks including Drum was all we had to heft.

From first to last the seventeen in all not bad quite nifty,
the Welsh 3000's (+1) completed in 22hrs 50 (mins).
Our own little challenge with two extra just an hour more,
So all in all we hiked the challenge in under twenty four (hours).

So today we pack up all our stuff and clear the campsite clean,
some have more to pack than others as up above can be seen.
We came we saw we conquered, north Wales at least,
and now it is time to sleep some more but first I need to feast.

Our love to everyone that helped and walked and drove and sponsored,
our legs do ache but are hearts are full and forever altered.
