Landmannalaugugar Panorama

worth going large

Just getting here was amazing. About two hours in a bus on tarmac then another three on dirt roads. The journey goes through some amazing and varied scenery as well as fording unbridged rivers.

Eventually arrived at the camp site, which was pretty busy and has the hardest ground in Iceland for putting tent pegs in ! Quite a lot of stuff to unload for from the bus an we have a cook tent to go in the evening.

On the way in on the bus there is a fantastic lake which was very tempting for a blip, but in the end I went with this. We went on an evening hike for a couple of hours. It doesn't get dark here until about 10 so there is no problem with daylight. The views are pretty special. This is an amazing place

It got better later when our guide Kristian cooked us Arctic Char for dinner which has to be one of the best fish I've ever had - although according to the locals it's not a fish...
