Deep Thought

Katie playing Numbars against Dr Robert Muetzelfeldt, my old professor at Edinburgh University and now my old friend. Numbars is our made-up family game that the children play quite often and I keep thinking I'll retire on but do nothing about. Well it's all good fun. We introduced it to the Prof, he couldn't help himself and won, but Katie gave him a good run for his money.

Earlier Gordon made up "Guess the Weight", which was brilliant. You'll need: a set of kitchen scales. That's it. Someone says a weight (say 570 grams) and everyone in turn lays out their stuff they estimate to weigh that much. We had clothes pegs, cans of beans, oranges, empty plastic bags, things like that - and anything else you can find in the house. It was really exciting and informative as we took turns to add our stuff to the scales. All good fun and the Prof won again!

After the children went to bed we "adults" sat down and compared our computer stuff. Hopefully we'll be working together in our spare time, just working through some ideas which seem to overlap in a positive way.

A fascinating and happy day.
