Sutherland's Grove

My sister and her husband left yesterday after a lovely few days with us. So a restful, recovering sort of day with a short walk in Sutherland’s Grove near Barcaldine. There are several woodland walks with enormous trees, ancient oaks and of course burns and waterfalls. And this time of year there are masses of interesting fungi in the most inaccessible places. We did the easy walk, which is still steep. It’s known as a muscle stretcher and would have to be a lot steeper before it was classified as building muscle. Hmmm. Enough for me.

The bridge has a carved wooden troll under it to the right hand side. You might just see him in Large. From the look on his face, best to give him his penny and walk speedily on. The railings on the steps at both side are a work of art with their crinkly lines. Blipped previously Here. The rocks beneath are sculpted by water and quite amazing to see, though not easy to photograph and get perspective right.
