Groaning

More by luck than judgement, we have a number of fruit trees. This an old Conference Pear tree and it does have a tendency to get untidy. So, on a roughly two yearly basis I give it a severe pruning. This is pruning for shape and tidyness rather than bountiful fruiting. Strangely this approach seems to spur the ole pear tree into action once it's recovered and this year the tree is absolutely groaning with fruit. Forgive me Percy Thrower, wherever you are.
