A wee libation

After a long travel day which began at 10am, we finally arrived in Mantova in Northern Italy just after 6pm. After dropping our stuff off at the hotel we took a wander through the impossibly narrow streets of this historic old town ringed by lakes, and found a quiet bar in a hidden courtyard to slake our thirst before dinner with my Italian publisher. Totally wrecked now.

My event is at 3pm tomorrow afternoon, when I will be in conversation with a well-known Italian writer. Afterwards I will record a video interview before doing a print interview with La Repubblica, the most important of the Italian national dailies. Looking forward to it all.
