A time for everything

Solitary cow

Saturday
Having spent the night in Calais, we took the 7.45 ferry to Dover.Taking a Channel ferry probably doesn't seem very exciting to many people, but having been living in the States for the last 17 years, this was the first time for us since the last time we were living in France, so it was interesting to see how things have changed! We have visited France a few times in the meantime, but either by plane from the States, or by train from England. Since it was a fairly early start from the hotel, we treated ourselves to an English breakfast on board, then went up on deck for a bit, before returning to the front of the ship to watch the English coast approaching. We had a reasonable drive up to Roger's family in Appleton Cheshire, arriving (thanks to the hour's time difference) in time for lunch. Unfortunately we had chosen a bad weekend for Roger's sister and her husband, as they are gone most of the weekend, but we were at least able to have lunch together! In the afternoon we went for a walk with Roger's Dad in the countryside around Nantwich, where I came across this cow - thought it made quite a nice picture against the lovely sky.
