It's tricky balancing the need for a two-hour car journey with the wish to not disrupt his sleep too much, nor to allow him to get too much in case he goes back to the stupid o'clock wake-up regime he practised a couple of years ago. He dropped off somewhere between Harthill and Glasgow and slightly woke up just as we arrived at the maternal grandparents' though insufficiently to do more than grumble lightly and try and burrow into the quiet of my shoulder when I took him in. I still don't trust his sleep enough to believe how easily he falls back asleep when picked up and moved, again based on the delicacy which used to be required to get him to stay asleep even when gently removing an arm from underneath him and creeping slowly away from his bed.
