OUTBACK AUSTRALIA..... Back When...#6

..... thought today for a bit more of the old family pics from days past in outback Australia.

Have a look in LARGE

This one is of my mother in law as a toddler only a few months old and her Dad (Tom) who was right into the horses both thoroughbreds and trotters.
Here she is sitting on one of his thoroughbred champs - Duke Joslings in 1928. This is out front of their farm house just out of Gunnedah in North West New South Wales.
She often tells the story of remembering that Dad spent all the money on his horses and that left her Mum to provide for the household.
Back then it was both a farming and coal mining area - coal first discovered in 1877, today it is still a thriving coal mining  area.
Also known for the famous poem "My Country" popularly known as "I Love a Sunburnt Country" - Check it out!
The ole WIKI will give further info if you wish.
Gunnedah is also known for a couple of current "beauties" (apart from my wife of course - lol) the likes of Miranda Kerr who was brought up there.
