Sunday 9 August 2009: Caracara (Lake Kissimmee State Park)
we were walking the dogs around the campsite loops, marking down the sites we like for future reservations, and were excited to see three Caracaras in the Live Oaks in one of the campsites. It appeared to be parents and a youngster. only managed to snap a few shots before they got nervous and left, and the light conditions weren't great. not a good photo, and wish the eye were visible- got that on another one where you couldn't see the blue-gray end of the beak. we usually see these birds on a large canal through an agricultural area, between 2 lakes here.
