Stob Ban

It was a funny day of book work rather than productive cad output. There were a couple of errands in the town and early evening approached without Caley having had what he would regard as a decent walk.

I took him up to Laggan Reservoir again tonight. The tide was much higher than on our previous recent visits. This is good for the aluminium smelter power house in Fort William which is ultimately the destination for this water but the raised level has encroached a little in to the vast flood plains which Caley enjoys so much.

Its funny, on the walk (in tricky light), I trudged about with the rucksack and big tripod, carefully bracketed a dozen or so ultimately unsatisfactory images then on the road home I stopped at the road side and quickly took this, two paces from the car, handheld and no bracketing.

And the other funny thing; the graceful conical peak in the middle is Stob Ban. It forms part of the Grey Corries massif and early editions of the Munro book described it as a secret hill hidden from view from any main road. It is in full A86 road side view from Kinloch Laggan to Tulloch.
