Old School Rules ...

Right now, we're steering an evasive track for TS/Hurricane Humberto. Humberto is expected to cross our bow today and pass us tomorrow on our starboard side. I learned our apprentice Jort an old trick; take a position with your back exactly into the wind, stretch your left arm (on Northern Hemisphere) and write down the direction 15 degreed more forward than your left arm. That is where the eye of the storm is located. Jort is pointing that direction now, proving that Humberto just crossed our bow. No batteries, no wifi, no satellites, it worked for ages and will be working for all times.

Nevertheless; we're getting closer to Humberto now and the wind, sea and swell will increase considerably this afternoon and night. We're in for an estimated 40 knot winds with lots of thundery showers and rain. Nothing we can't handle, even with two barges in tandem tow.
