Better than expected

Flash was reluctant to accompany Angie on her morning ride. It usually happens if thunder, hunters or low flying aircraft around. Angie & Luna had been gone about 30 mins when he started yodeling (only Bavarian dogs do this). I then drove him out to meet them for the 2nd half. Worse than having to cart children to sports, ballet etc!

Back home I checked out the bees as detailied on my Bee Blip journal.

Then the postman came with a packet for the dogs. While they shouldn't be encouraged to destroy things, I did on this occasion put the box on the ground and told Flash to open it. And he did, ably assisted by Luna. The result (on Flickr) was a great success.. All sorts of sizes and colours and materials - for summer and winter, for young and old. They are competition quality and don't cost more than most of the poor quality ones available in supermarkets/pet stores. The last delivery of 4 was in 2009 - one we lost in the river, one is still in excellent order and two Luna has more or less destroyed but our fault for giving her soft winter versions in summer. These and an amazing range of juggling type atricles available at Henry's (in English).

Day was drier, less windy, sunnier but as cool as forecast and just one more day to get through before the warmer weather arrives. This evening local Bavarian TV interviewed a 71 year old who forecasts the weather according to the flowering of the Verbascum (mullein) on the feast of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary (2013 15th August). Last year he was right but this year he was faced with plants in a condition he hadn't seen for last 20 years, no doubt, totally mixed up by the weather this year. He's not to sure what to make of it all but here his best bet for us Bavarians:
A little snow in October, snow for Christmas and 1st January week and then again in February until early March, returning for Easter which is relatively late again. In total a wet slushy winter, not great for all you sporty skiiers but we have other wonderful things to do in Bavaria and the Alps!

Hit Friday at the run and before you know it Saturday will be here.
