"The Wind..."

...We don't get a lot of Wind right here, unless it's serious, and yes, last night - it was serious stuff..so much so that it took us by surprise, and even our eldest Grand daughter came running out of her bedroom in shock with the noise of the Wind - 'like a freight train' they say don't they - and yes, it was like a freight train, it lasted for a couple of minutes and then - it was gone, and silent as if nothing had happened...

...It was very quiet prior to the noise the Wind created -and we both looked up at the ceiling as we expected the roof to go - but no, thankfully not this one, it's double brick, steel-framed and heavy tiles we thought - but, anything can happen during a Wind like that..we know that..

...It was a Wind like this one which took the roof off of our home in 1951, all those years ago - I remember my Father and his Brother watched from the sheep yards a little way away whilst the roof lifted into the sky and took off all over the paddocks and, yes, I remember that, I was Teigan's age then...so, it can happen...

....Many branches of the trees along our street came crashing down, not a lot of damage that we know of, apart from one of those big Sails in the garden of our neighbours, broke free and whipped off the air conditioner from the top of the home - and even at the Old Homestead, where we went for a bbq. today - there was tree damage everywhere, - the 100 yr old Olive trees there even had broken twisted branches, and across the river we could see where it had travelled...

...And so, today we have a capture of our Grand daughters, with just one of the branches which had been ripped from one old olive tree there...

...And Teigan never heard a thing..she must have been all tuckered out...
