To Mount the Guard

This is the Guard House for Jurby Aerodrome in the Isle of Man.

Like all such buildings it is situate at the main entrance to the base. It is a second world war structure and so would have been built about 1939 to 1942.

It was built of timber placed upon a brick or concrete foundation. As you can see, it is rather unloved and I find it surprising that it has survived to the present day. However survived it has and so one can only wish it luck for the future.

What is all the more surprising is that it looks across the main road towards a brand new health/community centre.

A strange juxtaposition of buildings.
