...perhaps...difficult to identify 100-odd feet overhead rapidly flitting birds going in every direction between bouts of returning to their frenzied party where they mostly disappeared out of sight to feed in the clusters of dangling flowers and leaves.

Interesting reading that while lorikeets are parrots broadly, lorikeets have specialist brush-like tongues ... that would fit the task I saw these engaged in feeding on the nectar of the flowers of this eucalyptus tree.
