Matchsticks burn...

... to light the candle.

I was talking to a friend other day about a book she refused to read simply because she knew how it ended. Well, I am reading a story now and I know how it ends but I still don't mind reading it. I like the way it is written, the atmosphere created of the time it's set in, the way the characters are drawn, their idiosyncrasies and even how each event unfolds. The details, if well sketched are often able to paint a different world real enough for the reader to become a part of. And often this is what a reader seeks.
