Thursday: Athabasca Glacier

We left Jasper this morning to head south to Banff.  Part of the journey is just being able to stop off wherever, and whenever you want, and today was no different.  En route to Banff, we stopped off at the Athabasca Glacier, seen here.

There is something about the scenery here, but particularly glaciers, that makes you aware of millions of years of history coming together to form this landscape.  That said, at the current rate of climate change, this glacier, currently the depth of the Eiffel Tower, is set to disappear in three generations.  A very scary thought..........

Now comfortably ensconced in Banff for a few days.
