Sushi by the Shotover

My daughter and I took our lunch down to the confluence of the Shotover and Kawarau Rivers today, because we wanted to get away from the busyness at Frankton - and were hungry! Neither of us had ever been down to that spot before and were intrigued by all the trail bikes being ridden at great speed over the riverbanks - and through a small braided part of the river too. One little boy - looked about 6 - was riding a dinky wee bike, absolutely flat out, accompanied by his dad.

I've climbed the mountains here (quite a few years ago) - Bowen and Bob's Peaks in the centre and Ben Lomond on the left. They're more like hills in Queenstown terms! I've been really taken by the wonderful fresh green growth on the willows - it's such a bright green :)
The Britten-Norman Islander had just taken off from Queenstown Airport.
