Friday 21 August 2009: Broom Broom

Last year in the UK 22,000 people called the AA because they ran out of petrol.

Amazing, especially given just how hard it is to actually run out of fuel in modern cars.

Not only do they have gauges and lights and beepy flashy warning things... but they also go for a large distance even once all these things say empty.

I once had a good friend describe me as a little red racing car

"You put food in him like you do petrol, and he takes off again... and he goes and goes and goes and then, suddenly, he's out of food and he just stops. So you put in more food and watch him go."

Which makes me wonder... if I had to be a car what would I be?

I'd guess a Renault Hot Hatch. Practical, goes flat out everywhere but is high maintenance and prone to regular malfunctions and accidents.

Funnily enough, S1 flatly refused to look at Renault's when we brought out car... kind of ironic really... :-)
