Hoose on the Hill

Harvest Time

It's the time of year for jam. I've just been out picking these crab apples from a hedge a mile down the road. It is a very good crop this year unlike last year when there weren't any at all.

The apples go into hedgerow jelly along with rosehips from the garden and blackberries from the Elan Valley. I've also got to brave the quince bush to see if there are any fruit. The quince is very protective - if there are any fruit they are usually right at the back and it is a very spiny plant!
