Down on the farm

Well what a fabulous evening for our Brownie trip to Sarahs' farm. The sun was setting as Rory and his family showed us around the farm explaining how the grain is dried and stored and how it's made into food for the cows.
The cow in this picture had given birth yesterday. She had twins but another cow had a difficult birth and had lost her newborn so one of the twins was moved across to her. The skin of the dead calf was placed a round this calf and all fingers are crossed that she will except it as her own.

We saw Sarahs new pig, cows that are due to calf any minute and 2 lambs that Louise had reared through out the Summer. Rory is the 5th generation of farmers on this farm and his son, although still in junior school, is all set to join his Dad as soon as he is older.

The sun set as the girls were treated to juice and biscuits. They wish they could have Brownies a t a farm every week, so do I it's the quietest they've been in a long time :)
