Another corner of old Midhurst

Midhurst was settled originally around the south end of the town. It had its first big market in the area between St Ann’s Castle ( now only foundations showing ) and the Church. Duck Lane was just a narrow lane leading to the market from the old road from Petersfield.

Nowadays most of the properties in the old part of town are Grade II listed, but back in Victorian times, Duck Lane was a disreputable place where people feared to walk alone.

One of these one bedroom cottages is on sale for £180.000. Pretty but tiny.
