Ivy

A new ivy shoot on a wall near the garden. It amazes me how geometrical ivy is in its growth habits: here each leaf alternate, at the same angle, formed in a way the human hand would find hard to copy. I think I might come back to this in a blog post sometime.
The garden itself is producing a steady dripfeed of tomatoes and peppers, and pumpkins are ripening. I'm trying to leave space clear because the earth is poor and I'd like to dig in a good deal of manure over the winter. My son helped one morning bring two trailer-loads from a friend who has horses, and there's more where that came from. As the friend said, it's a daily production.
