The Edge of the Wold

Copse

The copse in the middle of the shot has often featured in this journal as a counterbalance to the mass of Ingleborough. But today it is centre-stage. I must say I have never been to the copse, and I would have to sit down with a map to work out precisely where it is. So my resolve is not just to locate it, but to visit it sometime in the next month or two.

This was shot from Silverdale Road just beyond the village, a vantage point where in pre-Gus days I often took misty morning shots before heading back to work. These days the priority is to take Gus into Redhills Wood and up the Knott, before we reach this spot, but today Gus was relaxed about a change to routine, and this was to be a rare chance on a cloudy day to see a touch of brightness.

Otherwise it has been a quiet day at home, more taming of the garden and keeping an eye on Bob. The little lad is still riding the wave of the steroid injection, eating well and acting sprightly with a twinkle in his eye.
