Sgwarnog: In the Field

Bridge

On a day when it seems I missed the opportunity for a blip to end all blips I headed across to Buck Wood for more autumnal light and shade.

This disused box-girder bridge serves as an unofficial exit from the wood onto the Leeds-Liverpool canal, just above Field Locks. It used to carry a railway line linking different parts of Esholt Sewage Works, one distinctive aspect being that the locomotives were fueled by waste from the wool trade, the processing of which was a significant part of the plant's activities. The route of the rail line can still be traced into the wood, where there are various abandoned structures.

Here's a photo set from a previous visit to the bridge, although I'm fairly confident I haven't blipped it before.
