Return of the spider woman!

Took another short walk in the Belair Park to a spot where I knew there were some wonderful spider orchids. Had the long lens on the camera hoping that I also may be able to grab some bird shots, but it was not to be.

Instead I ended up shooting macros or closeups of this wonderful spider orchid, with the long zoom. The lens does quite a good job too, although the dedicated macro lens is really more suitable.

More spider.

This flower is one of Australia's most popular native orchids and also very well known and wide spread. Its correct name is the Eastern Mantis Spider orchid (Arachnorchis tentaculata). It grows to a height of 40-50 cms.
