Unicorns and Pandas

Realised the kids hadn't been along to the Helix Park or seen the Kelpies other than from a moving car, so gave them the option of visiting this or continuing with the housework. No brainer.

Sneaked in a bit closer to the on-going construction (still working on it today, time-and-a-half on a Saturday) to place the structures in a bit more context with their surroundings. The sculptures will form the centrepiece of a canal hub where boats will arrive from, and gain access to, the new canal extension and the Firth of Forth a kilometre beyond.

Not sure if I could tell how impressed the kids were - teenage grunts and the like aren't easy to translate, they seemed sadly more keen 0n on a suggested detour back via McDonalds. Stopped off on a wee quiet back road and steamed the car up (I refused to actually sit IN the place) whilst Euan entertained us with his discussions of how he wasn't going to bother buying any car when he was older, but how he'd use a donkey and a specially trained Heilan' Coo to get around. Think the MSG was getting to him.
