From a distance, these colourful lampshades looked like balloons and caught my eye as they were so bright against the early morning greyness of George Square.
When I was growing up in Edinburgh, "George Square" was the name given to George Watson's Ladies College which inhabited the building directly opposite the gardens and which became the Psychology Department of Edinburgh University after the amalgamation of the school with its brother school, George Watson's Boys College on Colinton Road. The actual square itself before the University adulterated it, was beautiful - with spacious town houses on its 4 sides. Nowadays only the North and West sides remain intact, while the other sides have been demolished to house cheerless new-build University buildings. The University have much to be forgiven for!

Have a lovely August bank Holiday, fellow blippers ,and hopefully the rain will be in Spain!
